The Purpose of Therapeutic Foster Care

The foster home provider is in the role of co-parent and provides all the basic areas of supervision, encouragement, and guidance to the child/youth. They are the change agent in supporting a child/youth’s work through emotional and behavioral issues which are often a result of prior trauma, abuse, and neglect. The therapeutic foster care provider will teach and model new skills to assist the child/youth with successful re-integration into their identified permanent placement.
